Active Performance

Active Performance is the quieter of the two venues, and that is the point. It is a private, well-lit studio gym — Technogym cardio, plate-loaded and selectorised machines, cable stacks, dumbbells, medicine balls, a plyo box and open floor to work on — with a handful of people in it rather than a hundred. “Get Active. Improve Performance” is painted on the wall, and the room is run accordingly.

If a commercial gym floor feels like too much, or you would rather learn to squat without an audience, this is the session to book. Everything Nathan programmes at Definition can be run here; the room is calmer, not lighter.

Who trains here

Who it suits

King’s Cliffe brings in a different mix from Peterborough: people from Stamford, Oundle, Wansford, Nassington and the Rutland villages who would rather drive ten minutes to a quiet studio than twenty-five into the city.

A lot of them are returning to training after a long gap, working around a niggle, or starting from scratch and want that to happen somewhere unhurried. Runners use it for the strength half of a marathon block. What everyone gets is the same Assess, Build, Perform method, the same eyes on the bar, and the same standard.

100% natural. No steroids, no peptides, no exceptions — at either gym.

Common questions

Training here.

Where exactly is Active Performance?

Station Road, King’s Cliffe, Peterborough PE8 6YH — a few minutes off the A43, with free parking on site. Around fifteen minutes from Stamford and twenty from Oundle.

Is King’s Cliffe or Peterborough the better venue for me?

Same coaching, same method, different rooms. Definition in Peterborough is a busy, heavily equipped bodybuilding gym; Active Performance is a quiet private studio. Pick on which room you would rather train in — and on the drive.

What does a session cost?

£40 for a single 1:1 session, or £350 for a block of ten (valid 16 weeks). Gym entry is settled at the venue.

I’m in Stamford or Oundle — is it worth the drive?

That is most of who trains here. King’s Cliffe is the closest 1:1 coaching of this kind for the Stamford, Oundle, Wansford and Rutland side, and the room is far quieter than anything you will find in town.

What are the gym’s opening hours?

Monday to Thursday 6:30am–9:00pm, Friday 6:30am–8:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 8:00am–12:00pm. Call or WhatsApp Nathan on 07592 833638 for available coaching slots.
