What I charge, in plain numbers
A single 1:1 session is £40. A block of ten is £350 — £35 a session — and you have sixteen weeks to use it. Online coaching through the Rudman Coaching app is £150 a month. The first consultation is free and there is no obligation after it.
Gym entry is separate and paid at the venue. At Definition in Peterborough that means the day rate at the desk; there is no membership to join. At Active Performance in King’s Cliffe it is settled at the venue in the same way.
What you are actually paying for
The hour in the gym is the visible part. The part you are really paying for is everything around it:
- An assessment before anything is programmed. Movement screen, training history, injuries, what has and hasn’t worked before.
- A plan that changes week to week. Loads, exercises and volume move based on how you are actually responding, not a template.
- Eyes on the bar. Technique is coached every rep, which is where most injuries are prevented.
- Food that fits your life. Nutrition guidance you can keep, not a list of banned foods.
How to compare personal trainers in Peterborough
Price per session is the easiest number to compare and the least useful on its own. Better questions to ask any trainer:
- What qualifications and experience do they have, and with whom?
- Do they assess you first, or start with a workout?
- Can they show real results from people like you — with names, numbers and consent?
- Do they train naturally and coach naturally? It changes what “realistic” means.
- Is the price for a session, a block, or a monthly plan — and what happens if you miss one?
For context on my side: I was a strength and conditioning coach at Peterborough United, and every result on this site is from real clients who have agreed to share it.
Is a block of ten worth it over pay-as-you-go?
For most people, yes — not because of the £5 saving, but because consistency is what produces results. Ten sessions over a few months is enough to learn the main lifts properly, see measurable change, and build a routine that survives a busy week. If you are unsure, start with the free consultation and a single session.
How many sessions do you actually need?
It depends on your goal and budget. Some people train with me two or three times a week; others book once a week and train on their own in between. What matters most is that the sessions are regular enough to build on each other. We’ll agree a frequency that fits your life at the consultation, and it can change as you get more confident.
What happens at the free consultation
It’s a conversation, not a sales pitch. We talk through what you want to achieve, your training history, any injuries or health considerations, and what fits your week and budget — 1:1, online, or a mix. If I’m not the right fit for what you need, I’ll tell you. There is no obligation to book anything afterwards.
What to expect in the first three months
Honest expectations: in the first month you’ll learn the main lifts and build a routine. By the second and third months most people are noticeably stronger, moving better and seeing changes they care about — whether that’s the scale, how clothes fit, running times or pain-free movement. See real client results for what that has looked like for people who started where you are.
Where the sessions happen
I coach at Definition Gym in Woodston, Peterborough and at Active Performance in King’s Cliffe, which suits people from Stamford, Oundle and Rutland. If getting to a gym is the obstacle, online coaching runs through the app anywhere in the UK.
The simplest way to find out whether it is worth it for you is to talk it through. Book a free consultation — no pressure, no obligation.
